Industries & Applications
Our charcoal does not end at the bag.
It goes on to do something important in industries that the modern world depends on. Here is where our products end up — and why it matters that the raw material is right.
Primary Applications
Where our granules go and why the quality specifications are critical.
Activated Carbon Manufacturing
The largest global use of high-grade coconut shell charcoal. Manufacturers crush and activate our granules using steam or chemical activation to produce activated carbon — one of the most widely used industrial filtration and purification materials in the world.
Coconut shell is the preferred feedstock over coal or wood because of its naturally microporous structure, which produces activated carbon with superior surface area and performance. Our fixed carbon levels and low ash content make our granules the right starting point for a high-yield, high-quality activation process.
When a manufacturer buys our granules to produce activated carbon, they are starting with the best available raw material. The quality of their final product depends on what we give them. We take that responsibility seriously.
Key specifications for this application
- Fixed carbon 80–85%
- Ash below 3%
- Consistent granule sizing
- No fillers or sand

Water Purification and Filtration
Activated carbon derived from coconut shell granules is the standard media in drinking water filters, industrial water treatment plants, wastewater processing, and municipal water systems worldwide.
When a household water filter removes chlorine, heavy metals, and organic contaminants — there is a good chance coconut shell charcoal is doing that work. Our granules supply the manufacturers who make that happen.
The microporous structure unique to coconut shell charcoal gives it a surface area that outperforms coal-based and wood-based alternatives for adsorbing contaminants from water. This is not a marginal difference — it is why coconut shell is the specification standard in this industry.
Key specifications for this application
- Microporous structure
- Low ash residue
- High adsorption capacity
- No chemical contamination

Air Purification and Gas Treatment
Coconut shell activated carbon is used in air filters, gas masks, solvent recovery systems, and industrial air treatment. The same microporous structure that makes it excellent for water filtration makes it equally effective for gas adsorption.
Applications include industrial solvent recovery, volatile organic compound (VOC) removal, odour treatment in food and pharmaceutical production facilities, military and emergency gas masks, and consumer-grade air purification products.
The demand for clean, reliable activated carbon feedstock in this sector is growing as air quality standards tighten globally. Our granules provide the consistent quality that manufacturers in this space require.
Key specifications for this application
- High surface area
- VOC adsorption
- Consistent performance
- Industrial and consumer grade

Gold and Precious Metal Recovery
In gold mining and refining, activated carbon made from coconut shell is used in the carbon-in-pulp and carbon-in-leach processes to adsorb dissolved gold from cyanide leach solutions.
This is a highly technical application where the quality and pore structure of the source charcoal directly affects gold recovery rates. High fixed carbon, low ash, and consistent granule size are all critical — and all non-negotiable.
Operations in this sector test incoming charcoal rigorously. Our product has passed those tests repeatedly, which is why buyers in this sector become consistent, long-term customers. They are not looking for a price advantage. They are looking for a supplier who holds their specifications.
Key specifications for this application
- High fixed carbon required
- Zero ash contamination
- Consistent granule sizing
- Third-party testable

Sub-Product Applications
Where our formed and specialty products go.
Shisha Lounges and Retail Distribution
Used by shisha cafes, hookah lounges, and retail shisha product distributors. The shift from quick-light chemical cubes to natural coconut shell is well established in this market. Buyers look for consistent cube density, even heat, long burn time, and minimal ash drop.
Premium BBQ Brands and Restaurant Supply
Used by premium BBQ brands, specialty food retailers, and restaurant chains. Buyers are specifically moving away from coal-based and chemically-treated briquettes in response to consumer demand for clean, natural products. Our briquettes are positioned for that premium shelf.
Specialty BBQ and Artisan Use
Used by specialty BBQ retailers, restaurant supply companies, and artisan metalwork operations. Popular in Japanese konro grilling, Korean BBQ, and premium food service where a clean, chemical-free heat source is required and the product origin is part of the brand story.
South Asian Restaurant Supply and Specialty BBQ
Used primarily in tandoor ovens across Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan restaurants worldwide. Also gaining traction with specialty BBQ importers who market provenance and flavour as product differentiators. Authentic cinnamon wood charcoal can only come from Sri Lanka.
Soil Remediation and Agriculture
Coconut shell biochar and granules are increasingly used in soil treatment — improving structure, water retention, and microbial activity in degraded agricultural land. A growing application as sustainable farming practices expand, particularly in markets where chemical fertilisers are being replaced.
