Quality Standards
Every buyer has been burned before.
Inconsistent quality, inflated specs, paperwork that doesn't match the product. We built our quality process around making sure that never happens with us.
What We Measure and Why It Matters
Every metric has a reason. Here's what each one means in practice.
Fixed Carbon
80–85%
Fixed carbon is the number that defines charcoal quality for industrial and high-performance use. It represents the pure carbon remaining after all moisture, ash, and volatile compounds are removed. Higher fixed carbon means longer burn, more energy, better performance as a feedstock for activated carbon. Our target is above 80%. We regularly achieve 82–85%.
Industry context
Many suppliers claim high fixed carbon figures. The difference is whether those figures come from representative batch sampling or best-batch cherry picking. Ours come from batch testing, documented per shipment.Ash Content
Below 3%
Ash content tells you how much non-combustible residue remains after burning. High ash means lower purity, more waste in your process, and worse performance in filtration or recovery applications. Below 3% is our standard. Many competitors ship at 5–8%.
Industry context
In activated carbon and gold recovery applications, ash content directly affects yield and process efficiency. The lower the ash in the feedstock, the higher the quality of the final activated product.Moisture Content
Below 5%
Moisture affects weight, storage stability, and carbonisation efficiency downstream. We ship below 5% moisture. We measure at point of packing, not point of production — which is where the number matters to a buyer.
Industry context
High moisture charcoal is heavier than dry charcoal. A buyer purchasing on a per-tonne basis who receives high-moisture product is effectively paying for water. We measure and certify moisture at the point the bag is sealed.Volatile Matter
Fully driven off
Volatile matter indicates whether carbonisation was completed fully. High volatiles mean the process was cut short — the material looks like charcoal but has not fully converted. Our controlled kiln cycles drive volatiles down completely.
Industry context
Residual volatile matter causes erratic burning behaviour, excess smoke, and poor performance in filtration applications. It is a reliable indicator of whether a producer completes their carbonisation cycle or cuts it early to increase throughput. The Commitment
If a batch does not meet our specifications, it does not ship.
It is reprocessed or used in lower-grade applications. We do not send a substandard batch with an apology and a discount. This is not a marketing statement — it is a policy with consequences inside our facility.
The result is that buyers who have ordered from us once tend to come back. Not because we are the cheapest option. Because consistency in this industry is rarer than it should be, and when you find a supplier who delivers what the COA says, you do not let them go.
Documentation
Every document your import process requires.
Certificate of Analysis
Issued with every single shipment. Not on request, not on special orders — every time. Based on actual batch testing. Buyers receive it digitally before vessel departure.
SGS Third-Party Inspection
Available and regularly conducted. Independent verification that our stated specifications match the actual product. This option is available for any buyer who wishes to commission an inspection on their specific consignment.
Phytosanitary Certificate
Issued by the Sri Lankan plant quarantine authority for every export. Required for regulated markets and provided as standard regardless of destination requirements.
Certificate of Origin
Sri Lanka, issued through official chambers of commerce. Confirms the product's Sri Lankan origin for preferential tariff purposes and market-specific import requirements.
Halal Certification
Available on request for markets where Halal-certified charcoal is required — particularly relevant for shisha lounges and food-adjacent applications in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Bill of Lading & Commercial Docs
Full export documentation including commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, and freight documentation prepared for every shipment. We do not leave documentation gaps.
